Gärdet is a significant residential district in Stockholm, developed primarily from 1929 to 1950, and is the location of SPLENDOM Stockholm Gärdet. The area is notable for its large open space, which is used for both recreational and cultural activities. This expanse of lovely green space creates a strong visual contrast with the densely developed central Stockholm, effectively acting as a psychological dividing line between the "central" and "suburban" city areas.
Better than home
While the district is commonly known simply as Gärdet, or "The Field," its full name is actually Ladugårdsgärdet, which translates to "Barn's Field." Situated in the northeast part of Östermalm, Gärdet is also renowned for its many modern buildings and architectural monuments.
